Richard Carpenter

     Richard was born circa 1578 in Herefordshire, England, at the parish of Dilwyne. Richard was a "dissenting clergyman" of the Church of England and because of his public stance, was forced to flee to France in 1635. His son, Alexander was already in Leyden, Holland and son William embarked to America in the spring of the following year. Five years later, in 1640, Richard returned to England where he began preaching and publishing his views. His best work was done in 1642, entitled "Experience, History, and Divinity". He is found in at least two other locations prior to his return to Amesbury, where he remarried and spent the remainder of his life. Richard departed this life before 14 December 1671 in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England.
