Elah Camp
M, b. before 25 May 1729, d. 17 October 1787
Elah was born in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. He was the son of Nathan Camp of Durham. He was christened there on 25 May 1729 in Durham.1 Elah married Phebe Baldwin, daughter of Ezra Baldwin and Ruth Curtis, on 14 May 1760 in Durham.2 Elah & Phebe had children: Ruth [chr. 8/09/1761][m. Eliakim Strong], Elias [chr. 9/01/1765], Elah [chr. 2/14/1768], Ezra [chr. 11/04/1770], & Phebe [chr. 2/14/1773].3 Elah departed this life on Wednesday, 17 October 1787 in Durham. He was buried there in the Old Durham Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: In Memory of Mr. elah Camp who died October 17th 1787 in the 59th year of his age - He who knows the world of the Soul prefers the treasures of Heaven to those of Earth and drops the world before the world drops him.4
