David was born circa 1309 in Fifeshire, Scotland, at Dunfermline Palace. David married Joan "of the Tower" or "Make Peace" on 17 July 1328 in Berwick-On-Tweed, County Northumberland, England. The river Tweed separates the two countries Scotland & England. This marriage was designed to end the hostilities between the countries of England & Scotland. They were crowned & annointed as King & Queen of Scotland 24 November 1331. He was king from 1329-1371. Since he had no issue, his nephew Robert Stewart inherited the crown. David departed this life on Friday, 22 February 1371 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, at Edinburgh Castle.. He was buried at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, in Holyrode Abbey.
