Francis Browne1

Francis was born circa 1610 in England. Francis was residing in New Haven in 1638. He removed to in Stamford in 1639 where he becomes a freeman in in 1649. He married 1st a Miss Ruscoe, and married 2nd 17 December 1657 a Miss Chapman. Francis was married 1st to a Miss Ruscoe, married 2nd 17 December 1657 a Miss Chapman. Francis married 3rd Judith Budd, daughter of Lieutenant Johne Budd and Catheryne Butcher, in 1683 in New York. Francis was married 1st to a Miss Ruscoe, married 2nd 17 December 1657 a Miss Chapman. Francis made his will on 5 February 1685 at Rye, Westchester County, New York. Naming wife Judith (mentioning her former husband John Ogden); son Joseph; child Mercy Brown; sons Benninonie Galpin, Thomas Hollibird and Jonathan Scudder. On 7 April 1687, Francis turns over to Joseph Horton Sr. all his lands etc. Joseph is to furnish him a maintenance and is to pay to John Ogden's children their legacies when they come to full age. Ten days later, Joseph returns all the above lands to Judith, wife of Francis Brown with the same conditions that had been set by her husband. It appears that Francis is either very ill or has died.2 Francis departed this life after 7 April 1687 in Rye, Westchester County, New York.
