Jeanne Bouveau

Jeanne was born in 1653 in Nogent, Haute Marne, Champagne, France. She was the daughter of Julien Bouveau & Catherine Peau. On 9 June 1672, Jeanne departed from Dieppe aboard the ship, "La Nativitie", captained by Jean Basset. She was one of 15 "Filles-du-Roi". They arrived at Quebec on the 3rd of August..1 A contract for the marriage of Jean Blet dit Gazaille & Jeanne Bouveau was signed on 16 April 1674. It notes Jean Bellet Gazalle resided at St-Ours; originated from Sarraza, diocese of Perigueux; and that he was the son of Pierre Bellet & Francoise Jardrinier. It also noted that Jeanne Beauvieu originated from Nogean-sur-Seine, Champagne; daughter of Julien Beauveau & Catherine Peau, It was drawn up by notary Antoine Adhemar but signed after the marriage.2 Jeanne's husband, Jean, died on 17 August 1722 in Contrecoeur, Vercheres County, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow. She was buried there in the churchyard of Tres Ste-Trinitie on Monday, 7 January 1737.3 Jeanne departed this life in Contrecoeur.
