Elizabeth Blackleach

     Elizabeth was born on Friday, 12 August 1644 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of John & Elizabeth [Bacon] Blackleach. Elizabeth married Lieutenant John Stedman I, son of Father Stedman I and Mother, circa 1664 in Connecticut. Elizabeth's husband, John, died on 19 December 1675 in South Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island, leaving her a widow. After John's death, Elizabeth married 10 July 1677 Thomas Dunk and by him had one child Thomas [1678]. Elizabeth departed this life on Saturday, 1 October 1678 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut. After the deaths of John and Elizabeth, on 21 October 1678 the court appointed Sargt. John to see that the children were taken care of and to find places for them to be raised.¹
