Daniel Birge

     Daniel was born on Thursday, 24 November 1644 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of Richard Birge & Elizabeth Gaylord.1 Daniel married Deborah Holcomb, daughter of Thomas Holcomb and Eliabeth (?), on 5 November 1668 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.2 Daniel and Deborah had children: Eliizabeth [4/25/1670-1673], Deborah [11/26/1671-5/12/1714] [m. 11/12/1691 Gerard Spencer], Elizabeth [2/03/1674], Mary [12/25/1677-8/23/1755] [m. 5/07/1713 Israel Stoughton], Daniel [9/18/1680-1/12/1681] & Daniel [12/03/1682-10/26/1737] [m. 3/28/1721 Rebecca Tarbox]. Daniel's wife, Deborah, died on 26 May 1686 in Poquonock, Windsor leaving him a widower. He married second, Abigail Gillett in 1688. They had children: John [9/19/1689], Cornelius [7/30/1694-6/23/1763] & Hester [10/__/1697-7/28/1748]. Daniel died intestate on Sunday, 26 January 1697/98 in Windsor.1,3 The inventory of Daniel's estate was taken on Monday, 3 March 1697/98 by Timothy Phelps and James Ennoe. They appraised the value of the estate to be £254 7s. Legatees: The Widow; the Children [Deborah, Elizabeth, and Mary were married]: Daniel, Eldest son, age 18 years, Abigail 13 years, John 8 6/12, Cornelius 3 years, Hester 16 weeks.3 Letters of Administration of his estate were granted on 5 April 1698 Letters of Administration were granted to the relict, Abigail, and her father, Cornelius Gillett..3 On 13 April 1698, the court ordered the distribution of the estate to be done by the widow, adminstrator of the estate, and to be assisted by Job Drake and James Ennoe. His will was probated on 2 March 1702/3. The court accepted the report of the distribution of the estate.
