Elizabeth Birchard

     Elizabeth was born before 1 November 1621 in Terling, County Essex, England. She was the daughter of Thomas Birchard and Mary Robinson. She was christened there on 1 November 1621 in All Saints' Church.1 Elizabeth married Thomas Bliss, son of Thomas Bliss and Margaret Snowe, on 30 October 1644 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut.2,3 Thomas and Elizabeth had children: Elizabeth [11/20/1645-7/10/1689] [m. 7/07/1673 Edward Smith], Sarah [8/26/1647-8/29/1730] [m. 12/__/1668 Thomas Sluman], Mary [2/07/1649-] [m. David Caulkins], Thomas [3/03/1652-1/29/1682], Deliverance [8/19/1655-] [6/08/1682 David Perkins], Samuel [12/07/1657-12/30/1731], Anne [9/15/1660-2/19/1715] [m. 4/08/1688 Josiah Rockwell] & Rebecca [3/18/1663-8/22/1737] [m. 4/08/1686 Israel Lathrop].4 Thomas moved from his family home to Saybrook shortly after his father's death [1651]. His allotment of land was on the east side of the river in what is now Lynn. By 1660, he had moved his family to Norwich, where the couple gave birth to Anne, the second white child born in Norwich. Elizabeth's husband, Thomas, died on 15 April 1688 in Norwich leaving her a widow.5 Elizabeth departed this life on Sunday, 28 February 1699/0 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut.5
