Hans was born in Buchholterberg, Thun, Parish of Oberdiessbach, Canton of Berne, Switzerland. He was christened there on 31 October 1652. Hans married Madelena Roht circa 1681 in Canton of Berne. They lived at Buchholderberg in Oberdiessbach. He was probably the Anabaptist in 1700 who left Jacob Amman's group (Amish) to rejoin the Reist Mennonite group. When Hans was 58 years old, he & his family were probably exiled to the Palantinate where his children grew up.
