Abraham was born on Thursday, 14 June 1787 in Botetonart County, Virginia. He was the son of Jacob Beery & a Miss Dillard. He was often referred to as Red Abe. Nicolas was his uncle and was to become a father-in-law after his marriage to Susan. Abraham married Susan Beery, daughter of Nicholas Beery II and Mary Elizabeth Keller, on 6 November 1809 in Bremen, Rush Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm given to them by Susan's father. They remained on this farm for the remainder of their lives. Abe & Susan had children: Joshua [11/06/1810], Daniel [1/29/1812], Elizabeth [8/21/1813], Jonas [4/21/1815], Jacob [10/16/1816], Abraham B.
