John was born circa 1773 in Hardyston, Sandyston Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. John married Susanna Cary on 15 September 1799 in Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey. Susanna was first married to Richard Lloyd. She was John's second wife. They lived in the Samuel F. Randolph house, and kept a tavern on State Road west of North Church. After his death, Susan kept the public house for many years. John's property was in Hardyston Township on both sides of the road from Newton to Hamburg adjoining Samuel Tuttle & Beverly Beardslee. John departed this life in Hardyston Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. His will was probated on 28 April 1824. His property was in Hardyston Township on both sides of the road from Newton to Hamburg adjoining Samuel Tuttle, Beverly Beardslee. Heirs-at-law: widow, Susannah Beardslee, dower previously set off, John Beardslee, Sibell Linn, Catherine Beardslee, Nathaniel K. Beardslee, Martha Sutton, Edward S. Beardslee [some were minors under 21].7

Randolph house, and kept a tavern. He married Susan Cary for his second wife. After his death, she kept the public house for many years. His son Beverly lived in the old parsonage, now the sexton's house, built in 1788, and married Ann, daughter of Christopher Longstreet. Beverly was drowned in Lake Grinnell while fishing. Edward, another son, lived on the Darrah place until he removed west. Sibella, a daughter married Joseph Linn, who kept store at Monroe Corners. The sign painted on the house, "Monroe Store", gave name to the cross roads. Another daughter married one of the Wellings of Warwick.
