     George was born on Saturday, 21 March 1778 in Hardyston Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. George married Sarah Stoll on 2 October 1796 in Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey. George & Sarah had children: Lois [12/16/1796- ] [m. 5/05/1814 William Wisner]. James [10/17/1798-dy]. John [9/02/1800- ], George [10/22/1803-4/25/1889][m. 3/02/1822 Martha Shafer [6/15/1805-3/20/1882]]. Samuel [2/02/1806- ], James L. [4/11/1808- ], Mary Ann [12/29/1809-9/27/1886][m. Marcus Culver & James M. Hunt] & Sarah Ann [12/19/1813- ][m. Alford Williams]. He was Captain of a Company in Sussex County and fought at Sandy Hook during the War of 1812. He lived in the stone house on the Lantz farm which was commonly called the "Plains farm", and was also a very active businessman. He engaged in iron manufacture and ran a forge at Snufftown, but iron making did not prove profitable. His estate became involved, and he sold out and removed with his family to Michigan in 1837. In that same year, George purchased land from the US Government in Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan. George married 2nd Sarah Struble. George departed this life on Friday, 25 May 1849 in Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, at age 71 years, 2 months and 4 days. He was buried at Southfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan, in the Southfield Center Cemetery.
