John was born circa 1684 in Monomoit, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. John married Mary (?) on 11 July 1706 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. They were married by Captain Jonathan Sparrow. John and his family lived on the farm that had been his father's. He was involved in the civic affairs of the community as he held many differing offices over the years. John's wife, Mary, died before May 1762 in Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower. John made his will on 27 May 1762 at Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. In his will, John gave his lands to his son Elisha and to his sons provided Elisha return to New England, however, Elisha though did not return. Therefore the land went to his two daughters Mary and Elizabeth. John departed this life on Thursday, 27 May 1762 in Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. His will was probated on 7 September 1762.
