     John was born circa 1668 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.1 John married Ruth Sherwood circa 1692. Ruth was 1st married to Samuel Drake.2 In May 1705, he was a Lieutenant in west company of Fairfield. On 24 February 1694/5, John renewed his Covenant at the Fairfield Church. In September 1692, John, age 24 years, testified in the Disbrow witch trial that the previous year he was in bed one night in the house that "Ned" Jessup then lived in, etc.3 John made his will on 31 July 1710. He mentions his wife Ruth, his four sons: John, Samuel, Joseph, Francis and his four daughters: Abigail, Ann, Sarah, Deborah.4 John departed this life before 6 April 1715 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.5 His will was probated on 6 April 1715. The distribution of his estate was made 22 January 1717/8 to his widow Ruth and his four sons.
