     Roger le was born in 1242 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, England. He was a knight of Ashby. Roger married Ela Longespee before 1267 in England. Roger & Ela had one son, Alan. In 1270, Roger and his father, Alan, were involved in a law suit involving John de Warenne, Earl of Surrey. The father and son were assaulted violently by the Earl; Alan was mortally wounded in the assault. The assault took place before the Justices in Westminster Hall.1 Roger's wife, an unknown person , died before 19 July 1276, leaving him a widower. Roger departed this life shortly before 15 October 1285.2
