Sir Alan le Zouche

M, b. circa 1217, d. 10 August 1270
     Alan le was born circa 1217 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, England.1 Alan married Lady Ellen de Quincey, daughter of Roger de Quincey 2nd Earl of Winchester and Ellen de Galloway, circa 1240. Sir Alan was of Ashby. He held the position of Constable of the Tower of London and was also Governor of the Castle of Northampton.2 In 1270, Alan and his son Roger were involved in a law suit involving John de Warenne, Earl of Surrey. The father and son were assaulted violently by the Earl; Alan was mortally wounded in the assault. The assault took place before the Justices in Westminster Hall.1 Alan departed this life on Sunday, 10 August 1270 in Northamptonshire, England.2
