John was born in County Norfolk, England. John married Margery Clifton, daughter of Sir Robert Clifton, in England. He was of Crownthorpe & Felbrigge, County Norfolk, England which he purchased of the trustees of Sir John Felbrigge, Knight of the Garter. In 1459 [38 Henry Vi], he was one of the Knights for the County of Norfolk in the Parliament held at Coventry wherein the Earl of Warwick and other accomplices of the Duke of York were attained of high treason.
