Thomas Wood

     Thomas was born in 1666 in Little Compton, Newport County, Rhode Island. Thomas married Content Thurston, daughter of Edward Thurston and Elizabeth Mott, in 1690 in Gloucester County, New Jersey.¹ Thomas and Content had children: Elizabeth [7/26/1692] [m. 11/13/1716 Thomas Tibbetts & 2nd 3/12/1726 Samuel Finney], Content [1/15/1694] [m. 9/28/1710 William Shaw], Rebecca 4/17/1696-1766] [m. 8/14/1718 Anthony Shaw], Thomas [1/26/1698-8/20/1729] [m. 12/24/1719 Ruth Clark], William [2/07/1701] [m. 7/16/1719 Hannah Shaw], Mary [2/06/1703] [m. 2/07/1723 Jonathan Sisson], Mary [2/06/1703] [m. 2/07/1723 Jonathan Sisson], Desire [8/17/1704] [m. John Irish], John [4/16/1707-4/07/1789] [m. 5/07/1730 Mary Burgess, 2nd 2/07/1745 Sarah Huddlestone, & 3rd 11/16/1752 Jerusha Tabor], Deliverance [5/04/1711] [m. 6/02/1735 Henry Cuthbert]. [the dates are all christenings] Thomas made his will on 22 August 1728 at Little Compton, Newport County, Rhode Island.

He appoints his son Thomas as executor; names his other sons William and John; his daughters Elizabeth Phiney, Content Shaw, Rebecca Shaw, Mary Sisson, Desire Wood and Deliverance Wood; and granddaughter Content Sisson "when she shall be twelve years of age." Those who gave administration bonds were Lieut. John Wood and William Wilbur.

Thomas departed this life on Tuesday, 10 May 1729 in Little Compton, Newport County, Rhode Island. His will was probated on 20 May 1729.
