Rose was born circa 1679 in the Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York. She was the daughter of John Wright and Mary Townsend. Rose married 2nd "Justice" John Townsend, son of Thomas Townsend and Sarah Coles, on 1 February 1706 in Queens County, Long Island, New York. [license date] Rose's husband, an unknown person , died on 6 November 1709 in Ouseden, County Suffolk, England, leaving her a widow. Rose married 3rd Samuel Birdsall before 1734 in New York. She remained unmarried several years, but in 1734 signs herself Rose Birdsall, after which nothing is known of her. Rose and her sister Eliphal were "celebrated" Beauties. It is thought that she received a considerable inheritance from her father's estate, which she managed competently. She also must have been trained well as her writing was described as "remarkably easy and handsome."
