In 1589, Thomas resigned his post, at which time Queen Elizabeth conferred the post to Thomas' son Andrew.4,5,6,7 Thomas's wife, Elizabeth, died on 15 March 1589 in Barley, Herefordshire, England, leaving him a widower. Thomas departed this life on Tuesday, 14 April 1598 in Barley, Herefordshire, England. On 16 April 1598, Thomas was buried at St. Margaret of Antioch Church, Barley, Herefordshire, England.8
