Hannah Wheeler

     Hannah was born in November 1746 in Williamstown, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Decaon Nathan Wheeler and Mary Bryant. Hannah married William Torrey, son of Samuel Torrey and Martha Strickland, on 13 April 1771 in Williamstown. William and Hannah had children: Jason [6/30/1772-11/11/1848][m. Lois Welsh], David [5/19/1774-12/17/1853][m. Esther Woodcock], Josiah [3/9/1776-11/__/1814][m. Jane McDonald], Samuel [12/26/1777-9/__/1854][m. Elizabeth Lewis], Mary [5/11/1780-3/25/1834][m. Stephen Smith] & Ephraim [3/26/1782-9/24/1829][m. Eunice Lewis].¹ Hannah's husband, William, died on 30 October 1820 in Williamstown leaving her a widow. Hannah departed this life on Wednesday, 28 January 1824 in Williamstown at age 77 years and 2 months. She was buried there in Southlawn Cemetery. The inscription on her stone reads: In Memory of Hannah Torrey who Died Jan. 28, 1824 in the 78th year of her age.
