Sir John de was born circa 1251 in Worchestershire, England. Sir married Isabelle Cassey. Sir John was known during his father's life as "John de Dufford", from the name of his estate. Dufford or Defford is close to Washburn & Breden. After his father's death, he became known as Sir John de Washbourne & is mentioned in the Lay Subsidy Roll of 1280. In the 5th year of Edward II [131201313], he was noted as being a knight of the shire. In the 9th year of Edward II [1316-1317], he confirmed to Roger, his son & Heir and Margaret, his wife, all the Manor of Washbourne . Sir departed this life before 29 September 1320 in Worchestershire, England, at the Manor of Washbourne. This date was the feast of St. Michael the Archangel. His death was most likely took place in 1316 shortly after he granted the manor to his son. He was buried at Wichenford, Worchestershire, England, in St. Laurence Churc. After his death, a case was brought to court against his son, Roger, concening lands belonging to the dowery ofhe his widow, Isabel, by the guardians of John Cassey.
