Eleanor was born circa 1172 in Buckinghamshire, England, at the Manor of Abinton [within the estate of Lavendon]. Alexander's brother, William, purchased the right to arrange the marriage of Eleanor and Matilda Visdelou. He then had Eleanor marry Alexander. Eleanor married Alexander (?), son of Richard (?), before 1196.1

At that time, William had already married them to his two brothers, for in the same year, Fulk, son of Richard, held one knight's fee [in Rycote] in the honor of Wallingford.
