     John was born on Friday, 11 April 1642 in Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut.1,2 The 11th day of the 2nd month1642, John was christened in Boston in the Massachuetts Bay Colony at the First Church at Boston.3 John married Mary Prior, daughter of Matthew Prior and Mary (?), on 11 October 1668 in Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York, at the Quaker Meeting House.4 John made his will on 15 December 1692.

Underhill, John, Sr., of Metennicock, 15 Dec., 1692. Wife to have use of estate for the benefit of the younger children. To two oldest sons, John & Daniel, land at Cedar Swamp; to sons Samuel & Abraham land in West Jersey; to son Jacob the homestead I now live on at Matenicock. To my four daus., Mary, Deborah, Sarah, & Hannah, the residue of the personal estate, and land at Hog Island. Wife exx. Overseers: John Feeks, John Dewsbury, & Richard Wiletts. Wits: Caleb Wright, Nathaniel Birdsall & John Williams.5

John departed this life the 28th day of the 10th month 1692, in Killingworth Upon Matinecock, Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York. The bible record states the 23rd day of the 10th month 1692.6 His will was probated on 18 May 1693.
