John Baisley

M, b. circa 1587
     John was born circa 1587 in Dedham, County Essex, England. John married Mary Slany, daughter of Richard Slany and Margaret Adams, before 1611 in Bartlow at Parish Church of Bartlow.1 John and Mary had children: John [8/16/1612] [m. Elizabeth], Thomas [ - 7/16/1648], Lydia [m. Henry Smith] & Daniel. John made his will on 24 June 1648 at Dedham, County Essex, England.

The will of John Baysie of Dedham in the Countye of essex cordwinder, being weake in body gave unto John Baysye my elsdest sonn £5 of Lawfull inglyshe mony – Item I give unto Thomas Baysye my sonne all that my tenement wherein Isack Gutteridge now dwells with the field and all the appurtenances thereto belonging after the death of Mary my wife, and if it shall happen that my sone Thomas dye without heyres lawfully begotten of his body then my mynd and will is that Lydia Smith shall have and injoy that sayd messuage to her and her heyers for ever and for want of issue Lawfully begotten to Danielle bayis my younger sone and to his heyers for ever – Item I give unto Daniell my sone the house I now dwell in with the field and orchard and all the appurtenances thereto belonging he redeminge the same beinge in mortgage to margret peke of layford widow for £35 but if she shall not release the mortgage then my will is that Daniell my sone shall have the rest of the mony that it is sould for – Item I give unto Thomas mu sone one little cowe black and white in consideration of £4 I borrowed of him And my will is that mygoods and chattels be equally ptysed and my debts discharged and the remainder ther of to be equally divided between mary my sayd wife and Thomas my son and Lydia smith and my mind is that my sayd wife shall have free egress and regress to her sayd house and field her natural lyfe and my will is that my daughter smith have the curtains of the best bed and the Green ruge and the lynnen that was her mothers. Son Thomas was named executor, Witnesses: Robert Salmon, and Bezaell Bentley.

John departed this life in Dedham. He was buried there in St. Mary the Virgin Church on Tuesday, 30 June 1648.2 His will was probated on 27 July 1648.
