     Samuel was born on Thursday, 3 September 1648 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. In 1672, he was ordained a minister. Samuel married Elizabeth Mayo, daughter of Captain Samuel Mayo and Thomasine Lumpkin, on 16 April 1674 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.2 Samuel & Elizabeth had children: Jane [12/06/1674], Elizabeth [7/24/1676], Sarah [6/20/1678], Samuel [7/--/1680], Mary [3/16/1682], Robert [2/24/1684], Abigail [6/13/1686], Joseph [11/19/1690], Joshua [3/17/1692], John [5/17/1693] & Nathaniel [4/15/1694].1 Samuel's wife, Elizabeth, died on 4 December 1696 in Eastham leaving him a widower. Samuel married 2nd Abigail Willard on 29 August 1700 in Massachusetts. Abigail was 1st married to Benjamin Estatbrook. Samuel & Abigail had children: Eunice [9/27/1704][m. Rev. Thomas Paine] & Robert [1/21/1707]. Samuel departed this life on Thursday, 18 March 1716/17 in Eastham at age 68 years, 6 months and 15 days. He was buried there at Eastham in the ancient Cememtery. On his tombstone, the inscrption reads: Samuel Treat died March, 18 1716/17 in his 69th year.3
