John was born on Tuesday, 15 May 1736 in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George County, Maryland. John married Elizabeth Ancrum in 1760 in Frederick County. John and Elizabeth had children: Elijah [1762], Josiah [1/23/1763-8/08/1849], John [4/19/1765-9/08/1834], Mary [6/05/1768-2/15/1852][m. 4/03/1802 Stephen Mullins], Stephen [1/17/1771-1831][m. 1793 Mary Boyd], Elizabeth 8/07/1773 - 4/00/1796], William [3/13/1776- 1824], Sarah [10/19/1778-5/25/1825 or 1828], Thomas [7/23/1780-11/04/1806], Aaron [8/23/1784-1817] & Nancy [9/03/1787-3/03/1854]. John made his will on 26 May 1817.
In the name of God Amen, I John Thrasher of the County of Pendleton & State of Kentucky being of perfect mind and memory far advanced in life and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die have therefore thought it proper to make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and disannulling all other wills or bequests whatever. – First after resigning my soul in the hands of Him who gave it and my body to be decently buried by my executors – concerning my worldly goods with which it hath pleased God to bless me I give and bequeath as follows to wit: To my son Josiah, I give and bequeath one hundred acres of land, the place whereon he now lives on Grassy Creek – To my son John, I give one hundred acres of land the place whereon hie now lives on Grassy Creek – To my daughter Mary Loveless, I give on Negro girl called Rebecca, after the death of my wife, until the said girl comes of the age of twenty one years at which time it is my desire that said girl Rebecca shall be free – To my son Stephen I give one hundred acres of land adjoining my son Josiah Thrasher’s land – To my son William, I give one hundred acres of land the place where he now lives on Grassy Creek - To ,my Granddaughter Sarah Thrasher I give the sums of twenty shillings. To my daughter Sarah Fee, I give the sum of twenty dollars – To my grandson John Thomas Thrasher I five after the death of myself the place whereon I now live, containing about one hundred and thirty acres, but should my grandson John Thomas Thrasher die without heir t is my wish that my son William should have it by paying to my two sons John and Stephen the sum of Fifty dollars each in good trade. To my daughter Nancy Mullins I give the sum of twenty dollars. It is my wish that my wife Elizabeth Thrasher have all my personal property [after paying my just debts] together with the Negro woman Hen & the place whereon I now live during her life & at her death it is my wish the said negro Hen should be free at the death of my wife and over that all my personal property may then be generally divided amongst all my children that ten be living – I hereby appoint my sons John and William Thrasher Executors to this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 26th day of May AD 1817.

John departed this life in Grassy Creek, Pendleton County, Kentucky. He was buried there in the Thrasher Farm Cemetery.2
