Edward was born in 1617 in England. Edward married Elizabeth Mott, daughter of Adam Mott and Elizabeth Creed, in 1646. He was the third person on reord of the Society of Friends at Newport. He was made a freeman of Newport in 1655 and held several offices there during his lifetime.2 Edward's wife, Elizabeth, died on 2 September 1694 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island, leaving him a widower. Edward made his will on 11 January 1704.
He names grandson Edward [son of his son Edward] and four surviving sons, Jonathan, Daniel, Samuel and Thomas. He also mentions granddaughter Elizabeth [daughter of Jonathan] and son-in-law Weston Clarke and Ebenezer Slocum and two granddaughters Slocum.
Edward departed this life on Tuesday, 1 March 1707 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island.2 He was buried there in the Coddington Burial Ground. His will was probated on 12 March 1707.
