     Philip was born in Combe St. Nicholas, Somersetshire, England. Philip married Alicia Richards, daughter of James Richards and Alice Blake, on 27 November 1604 in Pitminster Parish, Somersetshire, England. Philip made his will on 16 April 1621.

In the name of God Amen: The xxith day of April' in the yeare of our Lord god 1621 I: Phillipp Torrey of Combe 5' Nicholas in the Countie of Somersett husbandman beinge sicke of bodie but of pfect memorie (thanks bee unto god for it) doe ordaine and make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge First I bequeathe my soule unto Almightie god my maker and my Redeemer and my bodye to be buried in the Church yard of Combe Item I give unto the releife of the poore of Combe three shillings fowre pence Item I doe ordaine and appoint that Anne Torrey mine eldest daughter shall have three score poundPhilip Torrey be paide by mine Executors to mine Overseers when she shall accomplish the age of sixteene yeares and I doe intreate them to take the government of that portion until] shee shall accomplishe the age of one and twentie years Item my minde and meaninge is that her owne portion shalbe included herein as a pcell of this three score pound Item I doe give unto her the biggest brasse pann to be delivered unto her at the time of her marriage and not before Item I give unto Marye Torrey my daughter Twentye poundPhilip Torrey be payed to my Overseers by mine Executors when shee shall accomplish the age of sixteene yeares and they to take the government of that portion until] shee shall accomplishe the age of One and twentye yeares Item I do give unto her the second brasse pan to be delivered unto her when she is one and twentye yeare old and not before. Item I doe give unto Sarah Torrey my daughter three and Thirtye pound sixe shillings and eight pence to be paid unto mine Overseers by mine Executors when shee shall accomplish the age of sixteen yeares and then to take the government of that portion until' shee shall accomplish the age of One and twentie yeares and alsoe I do give unto her the second best brasse pott wch I have to bee delivered unto her at her marriage and not before Item I doe give unto James Torrey my sonn Thirty poundPhilip Torrey be paid unto mine Overseers by mine Executors when he shall accomplish the age of sixteene yeares and they to take the government of that portion untill hee shalbee one and twentie yeare old And my will is that he shalbe putt unto some trade wherby he may the better walk in some vocacion and alsoe I doe give unto him one silver spoone to be delivered unto him when hee is one and twentie yeares old Item I doe give unto Phillip Torrey my sonne Twenty poundPhilip Torrey be paid over to my Overseers by mine Executors when hee shall accomplishe the age of sixteene yeares and they to take the government of it untill he shalbee the full age of one and twentye yeares And my will is that hee shalbe putt an apprentise unto some trade so scone as he is able and alsoe I doe give unto him One silver spoone to be delivered unto him when hee is one and twenty yeares old Item I doe give unto William Torrey my son the biggest brassen pott the furnace kettle the best Table board the Cubbord wth this condition that his mother shall have the use of it so longe as shee doth keepe herselfe at an unknown age widowe and dwellinge in the howse Item I doe give unto Joseph my sonne Tenn pound All the rest of my goods not given nor bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my wife whome I doe make and ordaine whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament And alsoe I doe appoint my Father Will[ia]m Torrey my cosen John Fry, John Richards, Robert Sellecke and Thomas Lumberd to be mine Overseers of this my last will and Testament and I give unto them five shillings a peece. He was buried there at Combe St. Nicholas in the churchyard of St. Nicholas. Philip departed this life in Combe St. Nicholas. His will was probated on 27 June 1621. Philip's four sons immigrated to America in 1640.7
