The 1830 U.S. Federal Census enumerates the family of John Bair [000001:20001].3 The 1840 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Newburg Township, Cass County, Michigan, the family of John Bair [1010001:022001].4 John departed this life on Friday, 13 April 1849 in Newburg Township at age 53 years, 1 month and 5 days. He was buried there at Newburg Township in the Hutchins Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: John Bair - Died Apr. 13, 1849 - Aged 53 Yrs. 1 Mo. & 3das.
