Sarah Stedman

     Sarah was born on Tuesday, 21 February 1809 in Windham Township, Greene County, New York. This date was calculated from her age at death. Sarah married Simon Rich Griffin in 1831 in Tioga County, New York. Simon & Sarah had children: Simon Franklin [11/21/1832-1/03/1907] [m. 1863 Charity Terry], Sarah [1834], Almira [1836], Nancy [1838], Maria [1841] & Abram [1843]. Sarah departed this life on Sunday, 8 January 1843 in Richford, Tioga County, New York, at age 33 years, 10 months and 18 days. She was buried at Richford, Tioga County, New York, in the Congregational Church Cemetery. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Sarah wife of Simon Griffin died Jan. 8, 1843 aged 33 years 10 months 18 days.¹
