Michael was born circa 1673 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. His name also appears as Steward & Stuart.1 Michael married Mary (?) circa 1703. Michael and Mary had children: Bethia [0/21/1704] [5/27/1727 Samuel Hamilton] & Patience [8/27/1713].2 The family resided at Chatham. He was a mariner. Michael departed this life in Chatham. The inventory of Michael's estate was taken on Saturday, 26 September 1716 by his brother, Samuel, Nathaniel Nickerson & James Eldredge.3 On 26 September 1716, John Otis granted administration of Michael's estate to his widow, Mary Stuard & his brother, Samuel. They had until 26 September 1717 to settle his estate. On 24 August 1720, his widow, Mary, having remarried, the estate was divided between her & their two daughters; Bethiah & Patience. They were each given 13 shillings 6 pence as a division of the personal property. The land was divided between the two daughers, allowing Mary, now Harding, the use of her one third dower rights.4
