     In April 1638, he was christened in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.3 John was born in April 1638 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. John married Elizabeth Holbrook, daughter of William Holbrook and Elizabeth Pitts, on 13 December 1666 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. In 1669, the family, including his father-in-law, moved to Mendon. On 14 July 1675, Mendon was the first town attacked by the Indians in King Phillip's War. In that winter, the town was burned. John's family & the Holbrooks returned to Mendon after the war was over. John made his will on 14 September 1683 at Mendon, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

His will names his wife, Elizabeth, his two eldest sons: John & William, youngest son: Ebenezer, & four daughters: Elizabeth, Hannah, Melicent & Persis.4,5

John departed this life on Tuesday, 26 October 1683 in Mendon, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. His will was probated on 2 November 1683. On 4 February 1708, their children each drew a share in the 5th division of land at Mendon - the four sisters drawing the 18th choice. In 1713, the children also drew shares in the 6th division - Ebenezer & his sisters drew 96th choice.6
