     Richard was born circa 1595 in Upwey Parish, Dorchester, Dorchestershire, England. Richard married Mary Sharp in Dorchestershire, England. On 25 April 1629, Richard left from Gravesend aboard the ship, "Lion's Whelp", under the command of John Gibbs, bound for Massachusetts Bay Colony. Listed among the passengers were: Richard Sprague & his brothers: William & Ralph. They arrived at the Salem on the 30 of June.
.2 Richard made his will on 15 September 1668 at Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

He gives to Harvard College 400 poungs along with 31 ewes & 30 lambs. He gives to his brother, William of Hingham,his sword. He gives tohis nephew, Richard, son of Ralph his wharf & warehouse along with other property. He mentions his wife Mary.

Richard departed this life on Sunday, 25 November 1668 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. The inventory of Richard's estate was taken. It was valued at 2,357 pounds, 16 shillings, 8 pence.
