Bertha's husband, Edward, died on 19 January 1899 in Crane Township leaving her a widow. Bertha married LeRoy Selby Beery, son of Abraham Beery and Mary Ann Baird, on 20 November 1902 in Tiffin, Clinton Township, Seneca County, Ohio.

The secret marriage of R. S. Beery, of this city, and Mrs. Bertha Landversicht, widow of the late Edward Landversicht, has just leaked out. They were married in Tiffin Thursday, November 20, at the residence of and by Rev. F. C. Nietz. While a few of their friends suspicioned that they were married, none actually knew it until this Wednesday; and no doubt THE CHIEF will be the means of first informing the majority of their marriage. On Thursday, November 20, the young people drove to Tiffin, were married and at once returned without any of their friends being the wiser. They are now open for congratulations.
Mr. Beery is the proprietor of the Beery livery barn, in the rear of the Hotel Reber, which enjoys a liberal share of public patronage. He is a young man of steady habits and good character and has won the confidence and esteem of all who know him. His bride is a handsome and charming young woman, possessed of those accomplishments which make worthy wives and companionable partners. Roy rented a farm for $8 a month which he worked.6 Bertha died on Saturday, 11 December 1948 in Oceola, Crawford County, Ohio, at the family home on Route 30 at age 73 years, 5 months and 9 days at 7:00 p.m. from heart disease.
Obituary: Mrs. R. S. Beery Dies Saturday at Oceola Home -- OCEOLA, Dec. 13 -- Two weeks illness with complications caused the death at 7 p.m. Saturday of Mrs. Bertha Beery, 73, wife of R. S. Beery, Oceola.
An Oceola resident for 35 years, Mrs. Beery was born July 2, 1875 at Delphus to Henry and Pauline [Meincer] Smith. She was married Nov. 20, 1902 to R. S. Beery who survives.
In addition to the husband, two sons, Chester Beery of Akron and Raymond Beery, Mansfield, survive. Two sons are deceased. The couple's four daughters include: Mrs. Ruby Bogan, Bucyrus; Mrs. Lela McCurdy, Sulphur Springs; Mrs. Thelma Blackledge, Mansfield; and Mrs. Ilean Stoffer, Sandusky. Four grandchildren are also living. Carl Smith, a brother, lives at Upper Sandusky, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Witter, makes her home at Marion.
Mrs. Beery was affiliated with the Liberty Chapel Evangelical-United Brethren church.
Rev. Clayton Strawser of the Oceola EUB church will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Wise Funeral Home where friends may call tonight. Burial will be made in the Old Mission cemetery at Upper Sandusky.7
