     Anthony was born circa 1693 in the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Anthony married, daughter of Samuel Hoyt [Haight] I and Sarah (?), the 12th day of the 9th month 1719 in the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York.3 Anthony made his will on 26 March 1732 at the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York.

" I, Anthony Badgley, of Flushing, in Queens County, being sick, do on this 26th day of March, 1732, make this my last will." "I laeve to my daughter, Sarah Badgley, my negro wench named 'Ginney", and all my deceased wife's woolen and stuff cloathes and apparell now lyeing and being in my trunk covered with leather. I leave my daughter Elizabeth all my said wife's linnen clothes and apparell in my said trunk. My executors are to sell all real and personal estate, that is to say my dwellinghouse, lands, meadows, mills and goods, and from the proceeds they are to pay to my daughter Sarah oe 50, to my daughter Elizabeth oe 100, and the rest to my sons Anthony, Samuel, and Stephen." Anthony departed this life the 3rd day of the 2nd month 1732 in the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York. His will was probated on 8 April 1732. Anthony left his children to the care of his cousin, Isaac Thorne. Isaac removed the family to Dutchess County where he was a very prominent man.

Flushing, Nov. 12, 1701, d. there Jan. 20, 1731, dau. of Samuel and Sarah (Noble) Haight and gr. granddau. of Simon Hoyt, who came in the ship "Abigail" to Salem, Mass., in 1628. Phebe was a . Quaker as were probably Samuel and Anthony. In his will, he left his five children in the care of his "loving cousin Isaac Thorn", (Mrs. Badgley's nephew), who moved to Dutchess Co., N. Y., taking the children with him. He became a very prominent member of the Nine Partners Soc. of Friends, and the second largest land owner in Dutchess Co. His home was a mile and a half northwest of Salt Point. There are still Thorn descendants of prominence in the district, especially at Millbrook. The children of Anthony' and Phebe (Haight) Badgley were: 1. ANTHoNY3, b. 1722, m. Sarah ( ). Both are buried in the Badgley Cemetery on his farm a mile and half northwest of Salt Point, N. Y.; 2. SAMUEL, b. 1722. He was also of Dutchess Co., N. Y. He had a son, Capt. Sam.4, b. 1759; 3. ELIZABETH, b. 172-.; 4; STEPHEN, b. Flushing 172-, d. 1800; m.     . Was of Columbia Co., N. Y.; 5. SARAH3, b. 1730.
  2. [S406] Wheeler Thurston, Badgley Family History, "Anthony (2) Badgley, son of Anthony (1) and Elizabeth Badgley was born probably at Flushing, Long Island about 1690-5. He married November 12, 1719 to Phebe daughter of Samuel and Sarah Haight, who was born at Flushing 169_; she was a Quakeress, and Mr. Badgley seems also to have belonged to the Long Island Society of Friends. She died January 30, 1731/2 and he April 3, 1732. His will dated at Flushing March 26, 1732 mentions his five children and leaves them in care of his "loving cousin, Isaac Thorn" who was the nephew of Mrs. Badgley. Children of Anthony (2) and Phebe (Haight) Badgley: (1) Anthony (3) born about 1720-2; no further trace; (2) Samuel (3) born about 1722-6 moved to Dutchess County and was captain of a military company there in 1759; family record not discovered; (3) Elizabeth born 172_; (4) Stephen (3) born about 172_ and died in 1800. ; (5) Sarah, born about 1730."; Will of Anthony Badgley;
    When the Anthony Badgley died in 1732, the remaining Badgley children were raised by Isaac Thorn and his wife Hanna Haight.
