Samuel was born circa 3 July 1664 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. On 3 July 1664, he was christened in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at the "Shepard's & Mitchell's Church". Samuel made his will on 1 February 1742 at Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut.
He gave considerable land to his brothers & nephews before he died. He will all his property to them making no mention of children of his own. His brother, Thomas, dying before him, the land willed to said Thomas was afterwards distributed among the heirs of his brothers & sisters. There was no mention of his sister, Sarah Shepard Stone.
Samuel departed this life before 2 April 1745 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. His will was probated on 2 April 1745.
