     Harlan Davenport was born on Tuesday, 19 June 1906 in Grass Lake, Jackson County, Michigan. He was the son of William A. & Stella [Smith] Shelly. He was the grandson of William & Lida Smith. Harlan married Geraldine Elizabeth Howell, daughter of Rice Alva Howell and Vera Grace Glazier, on 3 September 1929 in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio. This marriage ended in divorce on 1/12/1952.1 1930, Harlan and his wife, Geraldine, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Grass Lake. Enumerated in this household were Harlan Shelly [23 Michigan] & his wife: Geraldine [20 Washington].2 Harlan departed this life on Wednesday, 31 January 1979 in South Branch, Crawford County, Michigan.3
