Elisabeth Isabelle Salle

     Elisabeth Isabelle was born in 1651 in St-Marceau, Sarthe, Pays de la Loire, France, at the parish of St-Medard. Early in 1669, she immigrated to Quebec as a "Daughter of the King". A contract for the marriage of Elisabeth & Jacques Marcotte was signed on 9 September 1670 in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. A marriage contract was drawn up between Jacques Marcotte, son of Charles Marcotte, a master butcher, & the late Jacqueline Boucher and Elisabeth Salle, daughter of Pierre Salle, a hardware merchant at the Palace & Francoise Lupia, by the notary, Severin Ameau.. 1681, Elisabeth and her husband, Jacques, were listed on the Canadian Census in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Jacques Marcot [33 years], Elisabeth Jalle [30 years], Denis [11 years], Jacques [9 years], Jean [5 years], Genevieve [3 years] & Marie [2 years].1 Elisabeth's husband, Jacques, died between 6 April 1717 and 12 November 1720 in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada, leaving her a widow.2 Elisabeth departed this life on Thursday, 31 December 1722 in Cap-Sante, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada, at age 71 years. On the same day, she was buried there in the churchyard of Ste-Familie.3
