Richard was born in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England. He was christened there on 10 December 1599 in St. Lawrence Church.2,3 Richard married Alice (?) in Long Buckby. Richard and Alice had children: Robert [1627], Grace [m. John Morton], & Elizabeth [m. Bobbington Bradley], Jemimah & Ann. On 15 July 1647, Richard hired his ex sister-in-law, Jane [Cornish] Puddington, widow of his brother Edward, to act as his attorney in retrieving debts owed him from Edward's estate. Their brother, Obedience had received the accounts of the estate and had taken over much of it. Jane was to use any method and/or court to collect the monies owed.4 Richard made his will on 27 May 1674 at Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England.

In his will he mentions son-in-law Bobbington Bradley, husband of daughter Elizabeth, daughter Jemimah, daughter Ann who was executrix, daughter Grace Morton wife of John Morton and their children Robins, Grace and Lydia. He mentions Mr. Thomas Robins, Clerke, Esq. and Jane Robins, late the wife of Francis Robins, my kinsman, and her two youngest daughters Ann & Elizabeth at age 12. He also metioned Thomas Eyre, son of my sister Contuiwe Eyre. And lastly, Kinsman William Marriatt, son of his sister Lemuell, and her husband Richard Marriatt of Long Buckby, Northamptonshire, England.5
