Caroline S. was born on Wednesday, 13 February 1839 in Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio. Caroline S. married John Sayles Dykeman on 18 March 1860 in Van Buren County, Michigan.1 17 July 1860, Caroline and her husband John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Marcellus Township, Cass County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were J. S. Dykeman [20 New York] & his wife: C. S. [21 Ohio].2 John and Caroline had a son, Ziba E. [1862-1936][m. Alvina M. Beaman]. Caroline departed this life on Sunday, 10 April 1881 in Atchison County, Kansas, at age 42 years, 1 month and 28 days. She was buried there in Effingham Cemetery.3
