Jean-Baptiste Richard dit Lafleur

     Jean-Baptiste was born on Wednesday, 7 August 1726 in Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was christened on the same day there in the church of St-Enfant-Jesus.¹ Jean-Baptiste married Marie-Louise Laporte, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Laporte dit St-Georges and Marie-Angelique Lescarbot dit Bosseron, on 9 October 1752 in Lavaltrie, Vercheres County, Quebec, Canada, at St-Antoine Church.² Jean-Baptiste & Marie Louise had children: Jean Baptiste [circa 1754][m. 8/21/1775 Brigitte Demeres Dumais], Joseph Sulpice [10/20/1755][m. 9/06/1779 Marie Josephe Gauthier], Francois [3/28/1756-5/25/1759], Antoine [7/15/1757-2/14/1759], Marie Marguerite [5/26/1759][m. 10/15/1781 Antoine Jean Pelletier dit Antaya], Marie Charlotte [4/05/1761][m. Laurent Fortier], Marie Angelique [2/12/1763-4/20/1765], Joseph Antoine [2/03/1765][m. 11/12/1787 Marie Josephe Beaugrand dit Champagne], Michel [9/24/1766-10/12/1766], Marie Esther [2/18/1768-8/22/1769], Francois [11/08/1769-11/15/1769], Marie Esther [8/07/1771] & Marie Amable [7/28/1774][m. 10/11/1790 Jerome Brien Desrochers]. The birth dates of the first three children are in question as there is only 5 months betweeen Joseph Sulpice and Francois. Jean-Baptiste's wife, Marie-Louise, died on 12 October 1794 in L'Assomption, L'Assomption County, Quebec, Canada, leaving him a widower. Jean Baptiste married second on 5 April 1796, Marie Genevieve Bergeron, daughter of Andre Bergeron and Genevieve DuGuay dit LaFranchise at L'Assomption.³ Jean-Baptiste departed this life on Saturday, 24 January 1801 in Joliette, Joliette County, Quebec, Canada, at age 74 years, 5 months and 17 days. He was buried there in the cemetery of St-Paul de Lavaltrie on Monday, 26 January 1801.³
