Francoise Aube

     Francoise was born in 1641 in St-Germain, Paris, Ile-de-France, France, at the parish of St-Sulpice. She was the daughter of Pierre Aube & Franoise Perie.² In the spring of 1668, Francoise left her home in France aboard the ship, "La Nouvelle France", under the command of Captain Allain Durand, some departing from Dieppe & others from La Rochelle before crossing the ocean for Quebec. She was one of 81 young women who were "Filles du Roi". They arrived at Quebec on the 3rd of July..³ Francoise married Michel Roy dit Chatellerault, son of Michel Roy and Louise Chevalier, on 8 October 1668 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.⁴ 1681, Francoise and her husband, Michel, were listed on the Canadian Census in Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade, Champlain County, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Michel Roy [35 years], Francoise Aubert [40 years], Catherine [8 years], Edmond [6 years], Michel [4 years], Pierre [2 years] & a servant: Antoine Capoui [55 years]. He owned a rifle, 4 beasts with horns & 4 arpents of land.⁵ Francoise departed this life on Saturday, 12 January 1709 in Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade at age 68 years. She was buried there in the cemetery of Ste-Anne-de-La-Perade on Sunday, 13 January 1709.⁶
