Louise Racine

     Louise was born in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Etienne Racine & Marguerite Martin. She was christened there on 2 September 1641 in the Basilica of Notre Dame.¹ Louise married Simon Guyon, son of Jean Guyon and Mathurine Robin, on 10 November 1653 in ville de Quebec at the Basilica of Notre Dame.² Simon and Louise had children: Jean [10/05/1659-1/10/1685] [ordained 11/21/1683], Marie [3/27/1662] [m. 11/10/1681 Guillaume Tibaut & 2nd 11/22/1694 Rene Reaume], Marguerite [9/12/1665] [m. 10/01/1686 Louis Damours], Louise [5/01/1668] [m. 4/10/1684 Charles Tibaut & 2nd 10/01/1686 Mathieu Damours], Charlotte [4/02/1671] [m. 11/25/1687 Pierre Cloutier], Marie-Angelique [7/17/1673-7/13/1694] [m. 1/14/1692 Richard Marette] & Barbe [circa 1/05/1675].³ 1667, Louise and her husband, Simon, were listed on the Canadian Census in Comte de Montmorency, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Simon Guyon [42 years], Louise Racine [25 years], Jean [7 years], Marie [5 years], Marguerite [2 years] & two domestics, Louise Guillot [8 years] & Pierre Martin [22 years].⁴ Louise departed this life on Saturday, 5 January 1675 in Chateau-Richer, Montmorency County, Quebec, Canada. She mostly likely died of complications of child birth. She was buried there in the cemetery of La Visitation-de-Notre-Dame on Sunday, 6 January 1675.⁵
