Richard Purnell

M, b. circa 1692, d. before 30 January 1754
     Richard was born circa 1692 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Richard married Rachel Pottenger, daughter of John Pottenger and Mary Mill, circa 1719 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Richard and Rachel had children: Ann [7/28/1720], John [10/27 1722-7/16/1754][m. 1740 Sarah Lane], Richard [3/08/1725- 6/29/1756][m. ,4/16/1751 Mary Pickring], Mary [2/09/1726][m. 10/03/1745 John Miles], Samuel [1727-3/02/1763][m. Anne Child], William 10/06/1729-before 1757], Rachel [1734][m. John Ray], Sarah [1740], Benjamin [2/20/1743-4/21/1777] & Verlinda [1/07/1748]. Richard made his will.

Know all men by these presents that I Richard Purnell of Ann Arundell County have this day absolutely and of my Own free Will give and Deliver unto my Loving Wife Rachell Purnell all my personalble Estate of what _________________ after my Decease unto my said Wife Rachell Purnell to have and hold all and Singular my Said personal Estate during her natural life and the plantation that she now lives on and after her decease the plantation to be Benjamin Purnell and the personal Estate Equally Divided between three Children that is to Say Sarah Purnell Benjamin Purnell & Verlinda Purnell if my wife re-marry the Estate to be Equally divided between the three Children, if she don’t marry the Estate to be in her possession during her widowhood. I give and bequeath the plantation Called “Harrison’s Enlargement” "Gramar’s Chance” to John Purnell and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath the plantation Called “Birkhead Adventure” between Richard and Samuel Purnell to be equally divided between the two brothers and their heirs forever. Richard to have 12 Acres where the house now stands and if either of them die without Are to be equally divided amongst the Surviving Brothers and in further Witness whereof I the said Richard Purnell have Absolutely of my Witness my hand
