Nigell de was born in West Riding of Yorkshire, England. Nigell married
Juliana de Warewic, daughter of
Richard de Warewic. Nigel first appears in records on a list of knights newly enfeoffed prior to the first Sunday of Lent, in the year 1168. Nigel's son, Peter, was in the party of the barons against King John and consequently had his property seized. After the death of John, Peter did homage to the new King, John's son, and had his lands restored. Nicholas gained the title of Chaplin to the Pope and also Archdeacon of Norfolk. In a letter Nicholas received from the Pope in 1257 his surname was spelled as Plimton. Nigell married
Maria (?). Nigell departed this life between 3 May 1212 and 22 May 1213. He died in the 14th year of King John Lackland [1199-1216]. He was buried at Spofforth Parish, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, in Spofforth Church. There is a monument above his Sepulchre.
