Father de Plumpton1
M
Father de was born. There is no record to indicate the first name of this man, but from records and statements about his two sons, we do know that he lived at the vill of Plumpton in the parish of Spofforth, in the upper division of Claro wapentake, west riding of the county of York. This vill is located three miles from the town of Knaresborough. A man by the name of Eldred of Plumpton is listed in the Domesday Book as the tenant of the vill, but existing evidence will not allow him to be presumed to be the progenator of the family.
