Gilles Pinel

     Gilles was born circa 28 February 1635 in Rochellle, Poitou, France. He was the son of Nicolas Pinel & Madeleine Maraud/Maranda. On 28 February 1635, he was christened in Ste-Marguerite de la Rochellle, Poitou, France.¹ Gilles married Anne Ledet on 2 September 1657 in ville de Quebec, Quebec, Canada, at the Basilica of Notre Dame.^2,3 He was a cooper. 1666, Gilles and Anne were listed on the Canadian Census in Comte de Quebec, Quebec, Canada. Enumerated in this household were Gilles Pinel [31 years], his wife: Anne Ledettes [35 years], Jean Nepveu [spouse of Anne], Catherine [8 years], Francoise [6 years], Marie-Madeleine [4 years], Francois-Xavier [2 years], Barbe Nepveu [12 years] & Suzanne Nepveu [10 years].⁴ 1667, Gilles and Anne were listed on the Canadian Census in Ste-Foy, ville de Quebec. Enumerated in this household were Gilles Pinel [33 years], his wife: Annne Laidette [36 years], Catherine [10 years], Francoise [8 years], Marie-Madeleine [5 years], Francois [4 years], Elisabeth 15 months.⁵ 1681, Gilles and Anne were listed on the Canadian Census in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada.
