Joost was born in 1664 in Cassant, South Holland, Netherlands. He was often referred to as Joseph Palding. Joost married Catharina Hans Duyts, daughter of Hans Laurensze Duyts and Maritje Satyrs, on 1 April 1688 at the New Amsterdam Reformed Dutch Church in the City, County & State of New York.¹ Joost married 2nd Sophia Hendricx in 1709 in Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County, New York, at the Reformed Dutch Church. Sophia was first married to Theunis Hercxen Krankheyt.² Joost departed this life in 1712 in Rye, Westchester County, New York.
