John Padgett

     John was born on Thursday, 9 September 1723 in Charles County, Maryland. He was the son of Benjamin Padgett and Mary Stevens.1 About the year 1745, John married Elizabeth Cawood and had 5 children by her.1 John married Mary Thrasher, daughter of Benjamin Thrasher and Mary Hook, on 25 August 1759 in Frederick County, Maryland. John and Mary had children: Sarah [8/25/1761][m. 6/14/1783 William Pearl], Eleanor [1/05/1763][m. circa 1780 Jonathan Markland], Dorcas [1765], John [4/07/1768], Maria [3/10/1771]][m. Elias Delashmuff] & Lydia [5/05/1773].1 John's wife, Mary, died on 24 January 1787 in Hope, Forsyth County, North Carolina, leaving him a widower.1 John departed this life on Sunday, 2 June 1811 in Hope at age 87 years, 8 months and 24 days.1
